Also known as digitalization, it is the process of converting information into a digital format (a format that can be read by a computer or “bits”: 0 or 1).
Any information can be digitized, sound, video, pictures or text files by turning the information into a series of numbers that describe a set of the original data’s points. In essence, it is the conversion of analogue information into a numerical format.
Digitization has transformed the way we operate, as it is crucial for data processing by computers. It allows many kinds of information to be carried and transmitted simultaneously and repeatedly without the loss of quality.
