Electoral System

Electoral systems are essentially a set of rules established by governments to conduct elections. These rules enable voters to express their will in selecting government representatives through casting votes. Electoral systems regulate the entire voting process from election campaigning, how to cast votes to rules determining the way votes are counted and the criteria for deciding the election result.

All else being equal, different electoral systems can yield different election results. Therefore, electoral systems should be carefully constructed to represent the different views of voters in the best possible way.
